TOPSHOP / TOPMAN Harajuku

RETAIL / Harajuku Tokyo, 2008

In 2006 Jamo was involved in the design of the first store in Japan for global High Street fashion brands TOPSHOP and TOPMAN. This time Jamo planned the renovation of the store on the occasion of the shop's expanding size at this location. The concept for our original design was one of raw "light" through a ceiling filled with rows of neon tubes. The store was to expand into the building's first floor and use the new space mainly for menswear. With this in mind, the ceiling here was given a strong angular composition whereas the ceiling for the second floor (predominantly women's wear) was given a softly curving wave-like shape. A dedicated stairway connecting the first and second floors of the shop was also added.
